May 31, 2022

Adire styles for ladies is the focus of this blog post. As a growing trend in the world of fashion, it is only instinctive to give it great prominence, being a pride of Nigeria.

The Adire fabric dates back hundreds of years. It is the traditional fabric and piece of fashion of the Yoruba.

Adire styles: moving fashion from old to new school

Also known as ‘kampala’, the adire fabric is a product of tie and dye. This is done by a simply folding a plain piece of cloth, often white, to the required pattern you want to have. You then dip the tied cloth into a pit of dye, very colourful. You dip the cloth, bring it out to dry. And then viola! You have your fabric ready.

Among the fabrics with great variety of patterns and even designs, a special place is occupied by the Adire. The unique technique of batik creating with all the evaluable indigo shades as well as the richest set of patterns and symbols is the pride of the Yoruba people. It is amazing how the local people tend to pull that off.

Adire has evolved over the years. Now there is a vast modern feel to the classic Adire. It now has its pride of place in the global fashion industry, and rightfully so too due to its sheer uniqueness and special-ness.

Some of the modern styles that can be sewn with the adire bubu gown styles, adire skirt and blouse styles, adire gown styles, adire boubou styles, adire iro and buba, jumpsuits, play suits etc.

Adire styles for ladies are top notch. Thankfully too, the fashion designers have been doing justice to it.
